E-invoicing mandate — Chile

An invoice is only valid once the tax administration has accepted it — with a clearance number, a stamp or a code that nobody but the authority can issue. A format tool alone is not enough; access to the platform is required as well.

The stages over time

  1. 11/1/2014

Chile · between businesses in force unverified

First stage: large companies with annual turnover above 100,000 tax units (UF). ⚠ The statute counts the stages in months from its publication (9, 18, 24 and 36) and gives no calendar dates — this date is derived from that and is therefore marked unverified.

Legal basis: Ley 20.727, artículo primero transitorio · Last reviewed: 10/27/2026
  2. 2/1/2018

Chile · between businesses in force

With rural micro-enterprises the phasing is complete: since this date all companies in the country invoice electronically. ⚠ One exception remains and is no formality — anyone working at a location without mobile or fixed data coverage or without electricity may, on request, continue to use paper documents.
